What Internet Package Works Best For You?

Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Tanzania normally offer their services based on one of 2 criteria; usage amount or bandwidth. There are also some that might split their internet services for Residential vs commercial users.

It’s easy for people to understand when the internet packages are split based on Usage. Once your usage crosses over a certain amount, the service is stopped. For instance, the Bonus package has a 50 GB limit, once that’s crossed, service will stop and you’ll be required to pay to increase the limit and keep your connection active.

What confuses many is understanding bandwidth. Is 1Mbps good enough for your home/office or do you need 10 Mbps? What’s the difference between the two? Which one works best with your internet habits?

We aim to explain bandwidth, what it means and what speed works best for what scenario.

What is Bandwidth?

Bandwidth is a technical way of referring to internet speed. It represents the amount of  data that can be uploaded and downloaded in a second.

The general metric used to measure internet speed by most ISPs is Mbps. The higher the Mbps number, the faster your internet is going to be.

Of course, there are other factors that will affect how fast your internet is going to be such as the number of users, the tasks being performed over the internet (streaming or video conferencing will consume more data than viewing emails and websites) and more.

Now that you understand what bandwidth is and how it works, let’s have a look at what internet package works best for you. To make it easier for you, we’re going to use our own internet packages as examples.

We believe this will make your purchase decision easier. The last thing you want is to get an internet package that doesn’t meet your online needs.

This works best for residential homes and small businesses that have no greater than 5 employees. This package has a usage limit of 50 GB and bandwidth of up to 2 Mbps. At this speed, you can do normal browsing, cloud backups and upload large files without issue. This package can also work for online gaming and video conferencing under certain circumstances.

Small businesses and residential homes with 5 people or more can take advantage of this package. The usage limit is 100 GB and the internet speed is up to 2 Mbps. As long as the internet isn’t being used for data heavy tasks, then this package should be fine. With this speed, you can do basic web browsing and email. You might struggle with large downloads and video streaming.

The package has a limit of 150 GB and bandwidth of up to 3 Mbps. With this you can do the usual day to day activities such as browsing the web, viewing emails and do more heavy duty tasks such as video streaming at standard definition as well as online gaming and video conferencing. The higher usage limit of the package gives more wiggle room as well.

The premium package offers a 250 GB usage limit and internet speeds of up to 4 Mbps. This package might not be suitable for concurrent heavy internet users. With that said, it could still work for your home/business. The internet speeds in this package gives you the ability to do online gaming, downloading large files, stream High Definition (HD) videos at720p alongside the usual like browsing the web and viewing emails.

We might be biased but 300 GB is a bit too much for residential users. This package is more inclined towards small to medium sized businesses. It also offers internet speeds of up to 5 Mbps. The usage limits allows for data heavy tasks and with internet speeds offered you can stream HD video, video conferencing among many other things.

The second highest package we offer, you’ll get 400 GB and bandwidth of up to 10 Mbps. Quite fast if we do say so ourselves. This package is built with businesses in mind. You can do high quality video conferencing, share large files within a network and more.

The unlimited package is the highest package we offer. It gives you the freedom for your business to meet its online goals and needs. This package is built for large corporations whose needs might not exactly fit in our other packages. You get unlimited speed and usage limit.

Our expert team is always open for a consultation to help you get a package that meets your residential/business needs. Feel free to get in touch with us and we’ll answer any questions that you might have.
